Dear WAX Community,

I would like my nomination to be considered for the WAX Inspector General position. I need your support with votes!

Let’s start with a bit of general background:

My name is Sukesh Kumar Tedla, I am a 26-year-old entrepreneur from Göteborg, Sweden, who is passionate about technology and doing something good for society. In my current role as CEO of startup Unbiased, I am driving the innovation of building ethical & transparent AI solutions that help fight complex technical & societal challenges like Fake News, Mis-Information, Bias in AI, ML & BigData.

I have a Masters’s Degree in Telecommunications and have more than 5 years of professional experience working in both technical and leadership roles. I am also currently serving as the Chairman of the Swedish Blockchain Association.

You can learn more about me on my LinkedIn page: https://www.linkedin.com/in/sukeshtedla/

My EOSIO/WAX Journey:

I have been part of the EOSIO ecosystem since the announcement of Whitepaper. My team (EOSGreen)was one of the first to ever run EOSIO software, we were one of the groups who ran the first SuperHero testnet in this ecosystem. I am also one of the founding members of the Telos Blockchain Network as well.

Since day-1, I have been actively preaching about EOSIO capabilities across various organizations and channels.

I joined the WAX ecosystem as a Guild(GreenEOSIO). We are also one of the first teams to join the WAX Blockchain Network as a Guild. Since then, I have been actively engaging in the WAX Blockchain Scene with Guild operations, external-outreach, building Dapps, and tools.

My Candidacy Proposal:

As a guild operator in the WAX ecosystem, I have always been vocal about the OIG evaluation framework and WAX governance since its inception. I had my fair share of arguments, angry exchanges too. But my intentions have always been to have a fair system where everyone is treated equally.

I think the OIG framework has so far proven to be successful in engaging the guilds/node operators to be active in the ecosystem and motivated them to contribute even more. But still, there are a lot of improvements that can be done to help improve the current OIG framework.

Today, my candidacy proposal is focused on building the next generation OIG framework which addresses the current issues and is ready to support the growing WAX ecosystem.

My Vision for OIG:

During the 2nd OIG Elections in October 2020, I have laid out multiple proposals focused on addressing the issues at that time and also to make the OIG framework more objective. Though I didn’t manage to win at that time, the different questions and suggestions from the community have given me more insight and motivated to run again.

Before going through different proposals, let’s briefly discuss the top-3 problems I'm planning to address:

  1. The current OIG framework heavily relies on subjective evaluation methodology. This methodology makes it hard for guilds building different products & services to be treated fairly as they could be at different stages of their growth life-cycle.
  2. Un-fair expectations: Being a guild on WAX Blockchain is very demanding and challenging because of the OIG framework requirements and fewer incentives. If this trend continues, there will be much fewer guilds supporting the network which is not good at all for the decentralization and resilience.
  3. Overall communication between OIG, Guilds and Community could be improved. There is very less awareness of OIG and WAX Governance in the community today.

My recommendations:

To address the above-described issues, I have put together some recommendations below. Please note that these are still work in progress and are subject to change based on feedback from guilds and OIG team members.

An objective OIG Evaluation Framework — As part of this initiative I would like to propose a WRL (WAX Readiness Level) system that sets a standard in evaluating different products & services. The preliminary WRL system has 7 stages mainly, each stage will award different points. If a product/service was awarded points previously but later discontinued then there will be negative points too. Thus, ensuring guilds only work on the products which they are committed and effectively improving the quality.

Also if there is reduced growth in 2 consecutive evaluations the points will be decreased.

Balanced expectations — It’s no secret that the normal guild operations are expensive and the current incentives don’t cover the infrastructure and payroll costs alone. For guilds to do active contributions with products, ecosystem and community development is an added cost. I believe that the current OIG framework expectations are not sustainable and the whole framework needs to be re-evaluated so that it’s fair to all the guilds and encourages more guilds to join the ecosystem. My plan is to have a pro-active framework where guilds decide what they are competing for, i.e: an active or standby position. There will be fewer requirements for a standby position in categories that aren’t essential like product dev, ecosystem building etc. If at any time there are open slots in the active positions then top guilds from the standby list will be bumped to active slots. This is a preliminary idea and needs further analysis & planning together with guilds and OIG team.

Improved Communication and Awareness — There will be pro-active feedback from my side to the guilds and I will actively engage with them to hear their problems and to address them in time. In addition, I will engage with the community influencers to increase awareness among the community about OIG, Guilds and Governance system.

That said, let me lay out why I would be ideal for the IG position:

  • As a guild, I have first-hand experience of being on the other side. This experience will help me in my decision-making process and in building evaluation frameworks.
  • I also possess technical experience in operating and managing guild nodes.
  • The principles I standby.
  • My past experiences and the value I can add to the WAX ecosystem with my network.
  • My ideas and proposals as laid out in this article.
  • My understanding of the problems and challenges in the OIG system.

Finally, I know there are a lot of concerns and obvious misaligned interests for a guild to be an IG. I fully respect that and here are my action points to address any potential concerns:

  • If I am elected to be an IG, during my term, GreenEOSIO will not compete or actively pursue to be a Guild. The Team will cease its operations as a Guild with 30days’ notice time.

Thanks for your time! Please vote and support the best IG for the role.
